THE WHOLE PRODUCTION CERTIFIED ORGANIC

All Speri products are Certified Organic. Today the Speri Winery is the most important organic producer of the Valpolicella Classica area in terms of output and of hectares of vineyard.

The Speri family, convinced that the quality of a wine starts in the vineyard, has always worked to preserve and enhance soil fertility, cultivating only native clones, preserving historical varieties that are at risk of extinction, respecting the biodiversity of the land. Lengthy experience as grape growers and continuous striving for the quality have led Speri, as vinegrowers, to be especially attentive to tradition and the environment.

The Winery achieved organic certification starting with the 2015 harvest, after a long period of sustainable farming and following a conversion phase.

The goal is to best promote the natural balance of the agro-ecosystem, implementing practices that bring together knowledge of ecology, plant physiology, biochemistry and insect etiology. Examples of this are permanent grass coverage of the entire vineyard surface to ensure the presence of organic substances, composting of pruning waste, winemaking that gives part of its by-products back to the environment. Without overlooking control of the main vine insect, the grapevine moth, using the modern sexual confusion technique.

SUSTAINABILITY CERTIFICATION EQUALITAS

Our family has been inextricably bound to Valpolicella Classica and to its land for seven generations.

Aware of its role as custodian of the integrity of this extraordinary territory, our family has always worked with utmost respect for nature and the surrounding environment, with the clear and precise goal of continuous improvement.

In 2015 our company achieved the Organic Certification for all its products, becoming the landmark organic business for the entire territory.

Nowadays, our family has reached another important milestone in its path towards sustainability: achievement of Sustainability Certification in compliance with the Equalitas standard, which, in addition to environmental sustainability, also emphasizes ethical-social and economic aspects through accurate, verifiable and measurable indicators.

Speri is therefore sustainable in the following contexts:

– Enviromental: thanks to biodiversity, organic production, good processing practices;
– Social: thanks to proper organization of workers that promotes workers’ welfare, training and rights;
– Economic: with adequate control of management, an adequate schedule for workers’ growth and good economic practices towards suppliers;
